PermaSlope - Consist of one of our crews pouring a narrow continuous sloped ribbon of concrete against the exterior side of the foundation walls. The top of the concrete pour is sloped down and away from the foundation walls. This forces rain water to discharge onto the ground a safe distance away from the foundation. As an added assurance we also install our PermaBloc process to prevent any capillary water or standing water from slipping under the PermaSlope and entering the crawlspace in the future.
The PermaSlope is then hidden by covering it with pine needles, mulch, etc. Customers' choice.

Hello I'm Phil Jansen. I'm a Licensed General Contractor and Licensed Home Inspector. I've performed over 10,000 residential inspections over the last 30 years. I have developed a process that permanently prevents excessive moisture from entering the crawlspace areas under a house or under a concrete slab type of construction (residential or commercial). My process, PermaSlope diverts rain water a safe distance away from the foundation instantly and permanently.
I developed PermaSlope over the last several years as a result of performing those 10,000 inspections and finding poor drainage at the foundation level a very common occurrence (about 60%-70%) of homes. It is the most mentioned issue on most home inspection reports.
Crawlspace remediation companies as a whole don't address any exterior issues of the home and that's a huge mistake! If the cause is ignored it just continues, regardless of what's been improved inside the crawl space. It's just not as noticeable because it's hidden by the new vapor retarder on the ground and/or walls. I've seen "floating" vapor retarder many times! Not good. This is a true indicator that water is still entering the crawlspace and possibly damaging the concrete footing below.
Note: The concrete footings are still in danger of being compromised because gravity pulls the excessive moisture down, down, down. When the ground under the concrete footings become saturated, they will likely crack and fail. This is a very serious issue.
Some crawl space remediation companies only want to install very expensive encapsulation systems with expensive dehumidifiers and sump pumps. Some of these costs are $15,000 - $30,000 and up. And they don't even mention the exterior drainage issue. Wow!
